Train Services Disrupted on Northern Main Line due to Ongoing Fire Incidents

Train services along the Northern main line have come to a halt due to severe fire incidents at various locations between Ljusdal and Ånge. Firefighting forces from multiple regions in Hälsingland have been tirelessly engaged in extinguishing operations to control the fires.

The first reports of ground fires, which are still raging out of control, came in on Wednesday at 5 pm. Dedicated teams from Hälsingland have been working diligently to combat the flames. As night fell, the operation had to be temporarily suspended. However, there is good news as the firefighting efforts have resumed, and now four helicopters from MSB have joined the fight, providing additional support to the ground crews. Olle Björk, a representative, confirmed the update at 4 am.

Determining the scale of the fire has proven challenging for the rescue service, and as of Thursday morning, no new assessment has been provided. However, according to a report from Ljusdals-Posten, it was estimated to have affected an area measuring 400 by 600 meters, further highlighting the intensity of the situation.

In response to the ongoing fire incidents, train traffic has been completely suspended along the affected route. Passengers planning to travel to or from Ånge, Ljusdal, Järvsö, Vallsta, Arbrå, Bollnäs, Kilafors, Holmsveden, Lingbo, Ockelbo, and Gävle C should be prepared for potential disruptions, as stated by the Swedish Transport Administration.

Unfortunately, at this time, there is no forecast available regarding when the fires will be extinguished and train services can resume. The authorities are working diligently to control the fires and restore normal operations as soon as possible. The safety and well-being of passengers, as well as the protection of the affected areas, remain the top priorities.

Given the gravity of the situation, it is important for the public to stay informed and patient during this challenging time. Efforts are underway to assess the scale of the fires accurately, and updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.

In the meantime, passengers affected by the disruption are advised to explore alternative transportation options. Bus services, carpooling arrangements, or any special measures implemented by the Swedish Transport Administration should be considered. It is crucial to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time until train services are fully restored.

We empathize with the passengers and communities impacted by these fire incidents and commend the bravery and dedication of the firefighting forces. Let us stand together as a community, supporting each other during this challenging period, and hope for a swift resolution to the fires that have disrupted our daily lives.

Please stay tuned for further updates as the situation progresses.
