18-Year-Old Filip Sidklev Makes Successful Debut in Brommapojkarna

When the Brommapojkarna took their first points of the season, the team’s first goalkeeper Oscar Linnér was missing due to injury. Instead, 18-year-old Filip Sidklev got the chance from the start between the posts. A place in the starting eleven that the talent did not let go of afterwards.

He himself describes himself as a calm and focused football goalkeeper, qualities that have become increasingly clear during the course of the season.

In his debut, he kept Mjällby and then also Halmstad, Värnamo and IFK Gothenburg. A full 395 minutes of football were played before Kalmar’s Mileta Rajovic headed the ball past him in the goal.

The first impressions of the Allsvenskan are more about things off the field, rather than what happens on it.

The role model is Bayern Munich’s and the German national team’s long-time goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. “He was revolutionary in playing high and being involved in the passing game,” says Sidklev about his German colleague.

But even on the field there are new challenges.

The trust from the coaching duo Andreas Engelmark and Olof Mellberg has undeniably been great as he has continued to be trusted since his debut. Nor are the teammates sparing with their words when Sidklev’s efforts come up.
